Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith, known for his unconfirmed claim of holding the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, has been arrested and detained at the La police station in Accra.

Allegations of Fraud

According to reports, Chef Smith has been accused of defrauding Amadia Shopping Mall. The mall is reported to have sponsored his recent cooking marathon, of a whopping GHC350,000. Other reports also indicate that the arrest was initiated by his former manager, Nana Boro after he reportedly breached the terms of their management contract.

Record-Breaking Cooking Marathon

Chef Smith embarked on his record attempt in March 2024, completing the challenge with an impressive 820 hours of cooking. The event drew a star-studded lineup of performers. Numerous Ghanaian celebrities visited the Amadia Shopping Centre to show their support for Chef Smith’s incredible feat.

Chef Smith was arrested while announcing his record-breaking achievement on July 2, 2024, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel. More details will be given as proceedings follow.
