NIA Resumes Ghana Card Registration
The National Identification Authority (NIA) recommences Ghana Card registration, providing a crucial service to citizens aged 15 and above, starting August 28, 2023.
This initiative aims to equip Ghanaians with the necessary identification for various transactions and services.
Accessible Locations Across Ghana
The registration process will take place at eight regional offices and all 276 district offices across the country.
However, certain regional offices will not be offering this service during the revival period.
Blank Card Supply Facilitated by Partners
The NIA’s technical partners, Identity Management Systems II Limited (IMS II), and CalBank PLC contribute 484,000 blank cards.
This collaboration was made possible through the facilitation of the Ministry of Finance, ensuring the availability of essential resources.
Two-Phase Registration Approach for Efficiency
To ensure an organized process, the NIA implements a two-phase registration approach, commencing on August 28, 2023.
The initial ten working days are exclusively dedicated to public sector workers under the Ghanaian government payroll.
Second Phase for All Eligible Ghanaians
Starting on September 11, 2023, the second phase opens registration to all Ghanaians aged 15 and above.
During this phase, individuals can replace lost, stolen, or damaged Ghana Cards and correct personal information.
Significance of Ghana Card in Identity Verification
The Ghana Card plays a pivotal role as the primary mandatory document for identity verification in various commercial transactions.
It also facilitates access to public and private services, emphasizing its importance in the daily lives of citizens.
Empowering Citizens with Free Services
Offering the registration service at no cost empowers citizens, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their access to essential identification.
This approach reflects the commitment to making identification services accessible to all eligible individuals.
Ensuring Accurate and Reliable Identification
The resumption of Ghana Card registration is a critical step towards ensuring accurate and reliable identification for Ghanaians.
This initiative aligns with the goal of providing citizens with a trustworthy identification document for seamless interactions in different aspects of life.
