Ghana’s Black Queens have slipped one place in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings released on June 12, 2025. The team moved from 65th to 66th globally and dropped from 5th to 6th position on the African continent.
Since Swedish coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren took charge in February, the Black Queens have played five matches, winning only once—a narrow 1-0 victory over Senegal. They also drew 3-3 and lost 1-0 in two friendlies against Ivory Coast, part of their preparations for the delayed 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The team currently prepares to compete in WAFCON, where they face defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania in Group C. With their recent mixed results, the Black Queens will need to find form quickly to make a strong impact and improve their international ranking.
This ranking update reflects the team’s recent performances and underscores the challenges ahead as they aim to qualify for the 2026 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
