Communications Minister Samuel George has announced significant increases in data bundle allocations across all telecommunication networks in Ghana, effective July 1, 2025. The Minister revealed these changes during a press conference in Accra, highlighting successful negotiations with telecom operators.
He stated that AirtelTigo Ghana and Telecel Ghana will each implement a 10% increase across all their data bundles. Specifically, AirtelTigo’s GH₵400 bundle will increase from 195GB to 236GB, while Telecel’s GH₵400 bundle will jump from 90GB to 250GB.
MTN Ghana will raise all its data bundles by 15%, including the restoration of its GH₵399 bundle offering 214GB, which had previously been reduced to a GH₵350 bundle with 92.88GB.
Minister George acknowledged the financial impact these increases will have on the network operators but emphasized that the consultations are yielding positive results for Ghanaian consumers. He expressed gratitude to the telecom CEOs for their cooperation, signaling stronger government-industry collaboration in the communications sector.
These adjustments form part of ongoing efforts to improve digital accessibility and provide better value for money in Ghana’s telecom market. The Minister also warned that the National Communications Authority (NCA) will monitor compliance closely and impose sanctions on any operators who fail to implement the new data bundle increases by the July 1 deadline.
Overall, this move aims to enhance data value for consumers while balancing the operational challenges faced by telecom companies.
