In a recent statement, Patrick Yaw Boamah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Okaikwei Central Constituency and a member of the disciplinary committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), emphasized the party’s commitment to upholding discipline and unity within its ranks.
Boamah’s remarks came in response to various offenses and incidents involving some NPP members, including flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, following the party’s special delegates’ conference.
He emphasized the importance of all members adhering to the party’s rules and constitution, stating that no individual should consider themselves bigger than the party itself. Boamah stressed that many individuals gain popularity because of their association with the party and that winning a general election is often dependent on the party’s support.
Boamah called on all members of the party, regardless of their position, to maintain the highest level of discipline. He highlighted that actions such as breaking ranks and using abusive language can lead to disaffection and disunity within the party, which could hinder their progress toward winning the next general election.
He also made it clear that the party is prepared to enforce its strict rules to ensure that members stay on the right path. However, he emphasized that this does not imply unfair treatment; rather, it underscores the party’s commitment to maintaining order and unity.
Boamah’s statement reflects the NPP’s dedication to preserving party discipline and cohesion, recognizing that unity and adherence to party principles are crucial for success in future elections.
