Bright Simmons questions Yvonne Nelson’s Commitment to the Dumsor Protest

Bright Simons, Vice President of IMANI Africa had replied Yvonne Nelson on a possible collaboration. He has raised questions about the commitment of the actress to the cause of protesting against power outages in Ghana.

Previous Collaboration

Yvonne Nelson, led a massive protest against the John Mahama government in 2015 over power outages. She has expressed her readiness to partner IMANI again to organize a demonstration against the government for the same issue.

IMANI’s Work on Power Outages

IMANI Ghana, a policy think tank, has been actively raising concerns about the power outages in Ghana. They have been chasing the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), pursuing issues related to the gas value chain, fighting over gas value chain issues, probing power tariff proposals, and highlighting the buildup of debt in the Independent Power Producers (IPP) sector.

Questioning Yvonne Nelson’s Support

However, Bright Simons has questioned Yvonne Nelson’s commitment to the cause. He stated that he has never seen her amplify any of IMANI’s work on power outages. Bright Simmons expressed his disappointment in a post on his X platform as a response to her post. He claimed he has never seen Yvonne Nelson retweet or share any of their work on her social media platforms.

Call for Amplification

Bright Simons called on Yvonne Nelson to amplify IMANI’s work on power outages if she is committed to the cause. He questioned why she has not done so in the past, despite IMANI’s active engagement on the issue.
